How to set-up a Dial-up connection to Libcom

Prior to creating a Dial-up connection you need to have this information available:
  • Your Libcom email address (example@libcom.com)
  • Your Libcom password (letters are all lower case)
  • Your access number (This is the phone number your computer dials to connect to the Internet)
       
    Click for Local Access Number List
  • Make sure your phone line is plugged into your computer

  • NOTE: YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE ONLINE TO DO THE SET-UP

    Computers using Windows XP
    1. Start your computer - Wait for the desktop to appear
    2. Click START - CONTROL PANEL
    3. When Control Panel opens Double-Click NETWORK CONNECTIONS
       
      (If You Don't See "NETWORK CONNECTIONS" click 'SWITCH TO CLASSIC VIEW' on left)
    4. Click FILE - click NEW CONNECTION
    5. You will see "Welcome to the New Connection Wizard" - Click NEXT
    6. On the next screen put the DOT beside: CONNECT TO THE INTERNET - click NEXT
    7. Put DOT beside: SET UP MY CONNECTION MANUALLY - click NEXT
    8. Put DOT beside: CONNECT USING A DIAL-UP MODEM - click NEXT
    9. Type: 'Libcom' in the ISP name box - click NEXT
    10. Enter the Libcom access phone number your computer dials to connect to the Internet - click NEXT
    11. Enter your Libcom Email address: example@libcom.com (all letters in lower case)
    12. Enter your Libcom password (all letters in lower case) - re-type it in CONFIRM box
       
      If you see two boxes under 'CONFIRM' make sure they are both checked - click NEXT
    13. On "COMPLETING" screen - Check the "ADD A SHORTCUT" box - click FINISH
    14. The 'CONNECT TO LIBCOM' screen should appear containg your Email adddress and access phone number
    15. Click 'DIAL' - your computer should dial and connect you to the Internet

    Computers using Windows Vista or Windows 7
    (Set up is almost the same for both systems)
    1. Click START button - click CONTROL PANEL
    2. Click 'NETWORK AND INTERNET' - click 'INTERNET OPTIONS'
      (If you do not see NETWORK AND INTERNET icon then double-click INTERNET OPTIONS icon)
    3. Under the General tab, type in www.libcom.com - click APPLY
    4. Click on 'CONNECTIONS' Tab
    5. Click on 'ADD' button
    6. Click on 'DIAL-UP'
    7. Enter your Libcom Dial-up access number in the 'DIAL-UP PHONE NUMBER' field
    8. Enter your Libcom Email address: example@libcom.com (all letters in lower case)
    9. Enter your Libcom password (all letters in lower case)
    10. Place a checkmark in REMEMBER THIS PASSWORD to save your password
    11. Enter 'Libcom' in the CONNECTION NAME box
    12. Check the box beside ALLOW OTHER PEOPLE TO USE THIS CONNECTION
    13. Click the CONNECT or CREATE button
    14. If the connection fails, choose 'SET UP THE CONNECTION ANYWAY'
    15. Once the connection is established, choose BROWSE TO THE INTERNET

    Computers using Windows 8
    1. Right-click on the bottom right of the Windows 8 screen
    2. Left-click on the ALL APPS icon
      (with a touch screen, swipe up from the bottom of the screen towards the top to find the ALL APPS icon.)
    3. Open the CONTROL PANEL
    4. Click CONNECT TO THE INTERNET under the 'Network and Internet' listing
    5. Click DIAL-UP as your connection type
      If you already have an Internet connection set up, you will be asked if you want to use an existing connection
      Select 'NO, CREATE A NEW CONNECTION' - click NEXT - Otherwise, skip to step 6
    6. Enter your Libcom Dial-up access number in the 'DIAL-UP PHONE NUMBER' field
    7. Enter your Libcom Email address: example@libcom.com (all letters in lower case)
    8. Enter your Libcom password (all letters in lower case)
    9. Place a checkmark in REMEMBER THIS PASSWORD to save your password
    10. Enter 'Libcom' in the CONNECTION NAME box
    11. Check the box beside ALLOW OTHER PEOPLE TO USE THIS CONNECTION
    12. Click the CONNECT button
    13. Click 'SKIP' when asked if you wish to test the connection
    14. To browse click the INTERNET EXPLORER tile on the main screen
