How to set-up and use Libcom Email

You can send & receive Email by using Libcom Webmail
  • Computers using Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10
    can use Libcom Webmail with Internet Explorer version 9 or higher
    or any version of FireFox or Google Chrome
  • Click top left link ( Login to Libcom Webmail ) to login to Webmail

    If you prefer to download your email and store it on your computer
    we recommend installing Thunderbird on your computer
  • Thunderbird works on most Windows systems including:
  • Windows XP, Windows ME, Windows Vista, Windows 7 - 8 - 10
  • It's similar to Outlook Express but is more up to date and full-featured
  • Download Thunderbird (for free) at this address: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/

  • save the file to your Desktop or Downloads folder

    Have this information available prior to setting up Thunderbird:
  • Your Libcom email address (example@libcom.com)
  • Your Libcom password (letters are all lower case)
  • NOTE: YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE ONLINE TO DO THE SET-UP
    1. Double-click the file you downloaded (Thunderbird Setup 38.5.0.exe)
    2. The program should open the SETUP WIZARD - click NEXT
    3. Select STANDARD - check MAKE DEFAULT - click NEXT
    4. It will display "Installation location" - click INSTALL - click FINISH
    5. At "System Integration" box check EMAIL - click SET AS DEFAULT button
    6. Click - SKIP - USE EXISTING . . .
    7. Enter your name - Enter your mail address (example@libcom.com) - Enter your password - check REMEMBER box - click CONTINUE
    8. Put dot next to: POP3 (Keep Mail on your Computer) || computer will try to search for settings
    9. Click MANUAL CONFIG button - check / select / enter these settings:
      Incoming (left to right): pop3 || pop3.libcom.com || port:110 || SSL: NONE || Authentication: NORMAL PASSWORD
      Outgoing (left to right): smtp || smtp.libcom.com || port: 25 || SSL: NONE || Authentication: NORMAL PASSWORD
      User Name: example@libcom.com || example@libcom.com
    10. Click DONE
    11. Close Thunderbird by clicking the X in upper right-hand corner
    12. Shut down and restart your computer
    13. Double-click Thunderbird icon or click on Thunderbird in START menu
    To:
    Receive new mail click: GET MESSAGES button (upper left)
    Create / Compose / Send email click: WRITE button (upper left)

    When using on dial-up we recommend NOT composing email in HTML
    Click TOOLS - click ACCOUNT SETTINGS - click COMPOSITION & ADDRESSING
    make sure the COMPOSE MESSAGES IN HTML FORMAT box is NOT checked - click OK

    Thunderbird is a full featured program including a calendar and address book
    The above steps are for installing and setting up your Libcom Email

    NOTE: YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE ONLINE TO DO THE SET-UP

    Computers using Windows XP and Outlook Express
    1. Start your computer - Wait for the desktop to appear
    2. Click START - OUTLOOK EXPRESS
    3. click TOOLS - ACCOUNTS - MAIL tab
    4. click ADD button on the right
    5. click MAIL
    6. Wizard opens - in DISPLAY NAME type your name or nick-name - click NEXT
    7. Enter your Libcom Email address (use all lower case) - click NEXT
    8. In box labeled INCOMING MAIL enter: pop3.libcom.com
    9. In box labeled OUTGOING MAIL enter: smtp.libcom.com - click NEXT
    10. Account name - Enter your complete Libcom email address: example@libcom.com
    11. Enter your password (all letters in lower case)
    12. Check REMEMBER PASSWORD
    13. "Logon using secure password authentication" is NOT checked - click NEXT
    14. click FINISH
    15. You are taken back to INTERNET ACCOUNTS screen
    16. Double-click pop3.libcom.com
    17. Properties screen opens - click SERVERS tab - put check in "My server requires authentication"
    18. click SETTINGS - put dot next to USE SAME SETTINGS AS MY INCOMING MAIL SERVER
    19. click OK - OK - CLOSE
    20. Close Outlook Express - re-start your computer - Open Outlook Express to use Email

    When using on dial-up we recommend NOT composing email in HTML
    Click TOOLS - click OPTIONS - click SEND tab - under "Mail Sending Format" - put dot next to PLAIN TEXT
    click OK

    You can send & receive Email by using Libcom Webmail
    However if your computer uses XP you can not use Webmail with Internet Explorer
    so it's necessary to install FireFox as your web browser
